Pupil Premium

Pupil premium is funding to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.

Pupil eligibility and funding rates 2024 to 2025

Below shows how pupil premium funding is allocated to schools and local authorities. Allocations are provided on a financial year basis, based on the following pupil eligibility rates. We receive £1480 for pupils who are eligible at the time our school October census. For pupils who have been adopted from care or who have left care, schools receive £2570.

All members of staff, governors and teaching assistants accept responsibility for ‘socially disadvantaged’ pupils and are committed to meeting their pastoral, social and academic needs within the school environment. At Sedgley Park, we are committed to ‘Closing the Gap’ between vulnerable pupils and the pupil premium forms a vital part of that process.
